Winter Itch Information - Organic Moisturizers

organic moisturizers successfully treat winter itch
A mainstay for the treatment of winter itch is moisturizing the skin. Moisturizers (moisturisers) are found in most skin care products. They increase skin hydration levels by reducing evaporation.

The skin makes its own oils to retain skin moisture, but production of these natural moisturizers decreases with increasing age.

To supplement natural organic moisturizers, cosmetic manufacturers utilize emollients, oils, lubricants and humectants. Emollients work by adding a layer of oil to the surface of the skin to retard evaporation, and increase the moisture-holding properties of the skin, and lubricate the skin to increase its apparent smoothness. One common ingredient of moisturizers is glycerin.

Winter itch (anti-pruitic, anti-itch) products may contain a host of ingredients, each brand with its own recipe, to moisturize the skin and reduce itching. A trial-and-error process often may be needed for a person to determine which product works best for their skin and climate condition.

Organic moisturizers contain ingredients found in nature. These include organic vegetable glycerin, shea butter, aloe vera gel, olive oil and organic vitamin E oil. Liquified beeswax may also be included.

Note that it is possible for some winter itch medicines (and any cosmetic product) to become contaminated with bacteria.
